Currently Interactive Art Director at Apple in the Marketing Communications department. Previously, Creative Lead at Squarespace
I'm a California based designer and illustrator, working in interactive, print and environmental design for the past nine years. I'm currently an Interactive Art Director at Apple in the Marketing Communications department, focusing on Apple.com. Previously I was the Creative Lead at Squarespace, where I managed a team of amazing designers who helped shape and maintain the brand. While at Squarespace I lead the redesign of Squarespace.com during the launch of Version 6. Squarespace.com went on to win a 2013 Webby award and was listed as one of the 50 best tech sites of 2012 by Time Magazine.
10 questions for Davy Rudolph:
-
What did you do before becoming a designer/developer?
Just before I started designing I was working at my in-laws chemical company as a Shipping Coordinator. One day they said something about updating their logo and I offered to give it a shot. I was hooked from then on.

Where do you turn for inspiration?
Lots of different things inspire me. When I first moved to New York I was really inspired by the beautiful art deco pieces that adorned many of the buildings downtown. You could definitely see that in some of my early work. But I'm not always moved by what I see. Sometimes I can be inspired by giving myself limitations. Seeking solutions around those limits can lead to breakthroughs you wouldn't have encountered any other way.
