Lionel Durimel
Hello! I'm a French Digital Designer, based in Montreal. I've worked in interactive design for the past six years.
During those six years, I've worked in all trades Print, Rich Media, Advertisement which made me skillful.
Previously I was an freelancer in few agencies where I collaborated with several teams. Obviously, passionate about art, design, web and urban culture. I have some affinities with typography, minimalist design and I love to make beautiful user experiences.

Where do you turn for inspiration?
My inspiration is everywhere. I look at all that are the best on the reference sites such as Awwwards, Siteinspire, FWA, Pinterest,...
Which are your favorite studios, designers or agencies?
I love Watson DG, Phoenix, Hello Monday, AQuèst, Instrument and Steve Denekas... That's just a small range !
Is your city a good place for designers?
I think Paris is a good place for designers, but the Nordic countries such as Sweden and Denmark are good schools and clearly stand out.
Which technologies are you excited about in 2015?
About technologies in 2015, I'm really excited by WebGL and especially Oculus or DODOcase (Google). With Oculus, more and more sites will have an immersive side and thus create unique experiences.
Do you listen to music while you work? Describe your playlist.
While I work, I like listen to music,a lot. My playlist is composed by: generally, FKA twins, SZA, TDE, Joey Bada$$, Childish Gambino and more. I love Hip Hop music.
What are you cultural influences? (Music, books, films, ideologies, etc.)
My cultural influences are multiple and various: posters of galleries, some generics, vinyls covers, Donda's Artworks.
Have you got an academic background or are you self taught?
I have got an academic background but I never stop learning by myself.
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I often cook, especially pastries, travel, watch movies, go to exhibitions and spend a lot of time with friends.
Where do you see the industry in 5 years?
For the 5 next years, I think that more and more studios will be created because there is so much talent out there. Also, more websites will rely on more immersive user experiences.
Are you working on any personal projects?
Being freelance or independent, I spend about 50% of my time on personal projects.
If you could give one piece of advice to newbie designers, what would it be?
"Stay hungry, stay foolish! " LOL. Really, stay passionate and find the positive side of each project.
