10 questions for Gonzalo Pérez:

• What did you do before becoming a designer/developer?

  Since I was a child I have always wanted to help other people feel good. I discovered that with design I could transmit happiness and help other people with their professions. This is the reason why I have devoted myself to this field.

• Where do you turn for inspiration?

  We live between real and digital world. In my case, the Internet is an interesting place to follow the work of other artists, agencies or studios but I try to avoid any external influences when I am working. Remember that inspiration exists but it has to find you working.

• Which are your favorite studios, designers or agencies?

  I admire a great number of people, studios or agencies and there are many of them in this jury so I feel lucky. Every day someone surprises me with something new and different. To name a few: Vasava, Serial Cut, Everything, Unit9, F-i, B-Reel, Anonymous, DoubleYou and people like Israel Pastrana (B-Reel), Sergio de la Varga (Everything), Andy Reisinger, Wenceslao Sanz (StereoChromo), Markus Magnusson, Tony Zagoraios, Gabriel Sushowolski (Microbians), Sylvain Tran, Brian Sugden... Do you want more? :D

• Who do you side with: Team Mac or Team PC?

  When I was a child my father had a pc and my uncle had a mac. I use both systems but in my studio I have a really powerful pc. I suppose father's influence won this game.

• Is your city a good place for designers?

  Well, Granada is a beautiful place to live but it's a small city and it's very difficult to find companies that spend money on developing creative online projects. I really love the people and the city but 80% of my work comes from abroad.

• Which technologies are you excited about?

  Html5, Css3 & Jquery are the base of my work.

• How many hours do you work each week?

  I don’t know, because when after closing the studio every day, I start to develop personal projects, help friends, etc…

• Do you listen to music while you work? Describe your playlist.

  When I start a project I never listen to music because I need all my senses on this part of the process. When beginning the creative task with the computer I turn on the speakers and I listen to bands like Neuman, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky o Four Tet.

• What is your favorite book?

  Normally I read books on my sector and I don't have a favorite because they are very technical with codes, etc.. but 365 Awwwards Book is awesome! :P

• What is your favorite sport?

  Basketball of course.
