As an international designer with a unique sensibility, Marc Jacobs’s website must be a reflection of himself—refined, surprising, classic with an edge. His consumers, young female millennials (digital natives), expect premier products and services, and a premium path to purchase. Both form and function being important for this luxury fashion house, we formed a team of creative and UX designers, Demandware and eCommerce experts, fashion and retail strategists, account and program directors. We started by creating a master list of creative and technical optimizations; then, we created an aggressive plan to launch a new site by SS FW ’15. Over three months, we streamlined the checkout process and redesigned all principal pages. We also remodeled the taxonomy to be more intuitive, implemented performance upgrades, replaced analytics tagging, and overhauled the Demandware implementation. Less than a month into the launch, we have seen double-digit increases in transactions and revenue year-over-year.
